Mentor Awards

Mentoring is an important factor of success in business, especially for early stage startups and for the micro and small businesses. These awards, held by YSB Balkans in the context of Growpreneur programme, aim to recognise outstanding mentors, who have demonstrated a continued commitment to mentoring startups and micro and small businesses in Albania during 2021, as role models in the Albanian entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The nominations were closed on 16 January and now the 15 mentors receiving the highest number of nomination are presented below for community voting.

Community voting will remain open until 26 January 2022 at 12:00.

Three most voted mentors will receive the “Mentor of the Year Award” for their outstanding contributions made during 2021.

Nominations & Selection Process

1. Open Nominations

Nominations may be made by any mentee, an entrepreneur or team member of a business, by filling in the online nomination form below. Nominations are closed on 16 January 2022

2. Community Voting

The 15 mentors receiving the highest number of nominations will be posted here on Monday, 17th January, for community voting. The online voting will be opened during 17 - 26 January 2022

3. Verification & Selection

The Award Committee will verify the number of votes received by nominees and select for the award the 3 mentors having received the highest number of votes from the entrepreneurship community.

4. Notification of Awards

The notification and the presentation of the awards to the winners will be done at a public ceremony held during the Growpreneur’s Demo Day, expected to be held on 27th of January 2022

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Nominees (mentors) should be Albanian citizen;

  2. Nominees have a continued commitment to mentoring startups and micro and small businesses in Albania during 2021

  3. Nominees may be mentors coming from any region or any business sector in Albania;

  4. Nominees may have exercised their mentoring role independently or as part of any entrepreneurship support program in Albania;

Important Notice

  1. Nominations may be made by any mentee, an entrepreneur or team member of a startup or micro/small business, by filling in the nomination form.

  2. Anonymous or incomplete applications will not be considered.

  3. Self nominations will not be considered.

  4. Managers of the organising partners and members of the Award Committee are excluded.

  5. This award targets a mentor’s contribution towards the success of the mentee(s), and not the mentor’s personal career achievements.

For the purpose of this award, mentoring is defined as the process of providing guidance, pragmatic advice, continued support and encouragement to entrepreneurs, helping them manage their own learning and development processes, in order that they develop their skills, maximise their potential, improve their leadership and business performance and become the entrepreneurs they want to be.
